The doctrine of the Trinity has been an essential of the faith throughout church history. Modalism, or Oneness, denies or redefines the Trinity. When T. D. Jakes, a Oneness pastor, was interviewed by two Christian pastors, Jakes cleverly played word games and redefined the Trinity in his own terms, thus fooling the two pastors involved (James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll), as well as others. This article examines how Jakes did this. Jakes has never confessed the Trinity and has continued his association with a group of Oneness churches.
